Vodka production

Alex Grig Alcohol Plant, opened in 2007.The distillery produces a variety of vodka and ouzo. It also produces whiskey since 2014, under the brands Mac Alex and Mac Grant.

S. Aleksanyan is known for producing low-quality vodkas, as well as forging vodkas, which are well-known products in the international vodka market. 

He carries out such activities through "AG" LLC, which has no registration, but has received tax privileges from the Government of the Republic of Armenia .

The Armenian State Commission on Economic Competition discussed the application of “Manukyan and Partners” company, which is the official representatives of a number of Russian companies producing vodka in Armenia, which noted that the “Alex Grig” produces vodka under the brand names that are well-known international brands. Commission acknowledged the use of brands as unfair competition and fined “Alex Grig” by 1.5 million drams.  

Liquor production in the Republic of Armenia (RA) amounted to 28.64 billion drams (approx. US$59,917,744), from January to April of the current year, an increase of 21 percent, as compared to January-April 2015, according to Zhamanak newspaper.

“Close to 555 thousand liters of whiskey was produced in the RA in 4 months, which is 3 times higher than the January-April 2015 indicator (187.2 thousand liters).

“Whiskey production in Armenia started in 2014. The Alex Grig company, belonging to businessmen [MP] Samvel Aleksanyan, is engaged in the production of whiskey [in the country]. In addition to [its] consumption in the domestic market, the alcohol is exported to Iraq,” wrote Zhamanak.
